Artificial intelligence is rapidly transforming gastroenterology, and developing AI literacy is now essential for every clinician who wants to practice safely, efficiently, and with confidence. This course provides a clear, practical foundation in how AI works—demystifying datasets, model training, metrics, and real-world clinical applications. Through hands-on exercises in generative AI and prompt engineering, participants will learn how to accelerate research, enhance clinical workflows, and apply AI tools responsibly in daily practice. By the end of the workshop, you'll be equipped not just to understand AI, but to begin using it immediately and effectively in your own work.

Participants will be able to:

  • Understand core AI and machine learning concepts relevant to gastroenterology, including datasets, model training, validation, and key performance metrics
  • Critically evaluate AI research using structured frameworks to assess study design, data quality, external validation, and real-world applicability
  • Use generative AI and prompt engineering to accelerate research tasks such as literature synthesis and clinical applications in practice
  • Redesign clinical, operational, or research workflows using the AI Workflow Canvas to identify inefficiencies and apply practical AI-driven solutions
  • Recognize ethical, safety, and regulatory considerations including data privacy, hallucinations, bias, and the basics of responsible AI deployment
